WEEKLY TIP

What should you do if you have been around someone who may have been exposed? What if you’re a “contact of a contact?” Here is a common scenario: Someone you live with or a close friend had a direct exposure to a person who tested positive for COVID-19, however you have not been in contact with a person who has tested positive. The person you are close with has tested negative and is now in quarantine for 14 days.

In this scenario, you are not considered a close contact and you do not need to be tested or to go into official quarantine. However, you should be diligent for the next 14 days in monitoring yourself for COVID symptoms, work remotely if possible, and limit contact with others. This self-imposed quarantine would be out of caution to limit possible transmission. You may also contact your health provider or Gustavus Health Services to see if you should get tested. If you believe you may have been exposed, ask to be tested.
