SUBJECT: COVID-19 Weekly Update

DATE: April 27, 2021

WEEKLY TIP
Today, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz provided updated guidance relaxing mask requirements for vaccinated individuals while they are outdoors.
Gustavus is continuing its current masking policy through the end of the academic year. Updated campus regulations for the summer will be communicated to Gustavus faculty and staff in the coming weeks. For now, it is expected that all people on campus will continue to wear a face covering inside campus buildings, and outside whenever six (6) feet of distancing cannot be maintained.
Gustavus Face Covering Policy:
  • Face coverings should be worn:
    • If you are in your residence hall room and the door is open.
    • If you are alone in an office and the door is open.
    • If a work area does not have a door, such as a front reception area or cubicles.
    • Outside whenever six (6) feet of distancing cannot be maintained.
  • Face coverings may be removed:
    • In a private space such as a residence hall room or when alone in an individual office space with a closed door.
    • When actively eating or drinking.
    • When performing personal hygiene.
    • Outside whenever six (6) feet of distancing can safely and consistently be maintained.
  • Face coverings may be removed inside your own residence hall room/house/apartment if you are alone or with your roommate(s).
