Every Tuesday, the Gustavus COVID-19 Response Leadership Team will send out a weekly update that includes tips and reminders, policy updates, and information about on-campus COVID-19 cases. These messages are sent to all students, faculty, and staff along with Gustavus parents who have an email address on file with the College.
WEEKLY TIP
On-campus testing: Starting this week, Gustavus has added a second weekly mass testing opportunity for all students, faculty, and staff. The weekly testing will take place on Mondays from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on the second floor of Lund Center overlooking Gus Young Court. No appointment is needed for Monday or Wednesday mass testing. A limited number of tests are available by appointment with the Health Service each week. Call 507-933-7630 for an appointment.
Off-campus testing: Free, off-campus COVID-19 testing is available at the Vault site at the Mankato Armory Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. The Gustavus Health Service has a webpage with additional testing resources in the area. The State of Minnesota is also offering no-cost at-home saliva testing.
Cost/Insurance information: On-campus testing costs will be submitted to your insurance. You must provide Gustavus Health Service with your insurance information. Almost all insurance carriers still cover all costs of COVID-19 testing without an individual paying a deductible or a co-pay. If you have questions if a COVID-19 test will be covered, contact your insurance company.
Masking: The Gustavus campus remains at Masking Level 2. Masks required in all indoor buildings except for Gustavus students in residence halls and for employees in their office with the door closed. This is based on the campus masking criteria because transmission in the surrounding counties and COVID-19 hospitalizations in the state are still high.

This data set is meant to encompass the on-campus impact of COVID-19 by counting cases where a person may have been on campus while infectious. For example, students who are living at home or employees who are working remotely and not visiting campus will not be counted in these on-campus numbers. This information, along with statistics from the 2020-2021 academic year, is also available for viewing on the College’s COVID-19 Dashboard History page.
