Every Tuesday, the Gustavus COVID-19 Response Leadership Team will send out a weekly update that includes tips and reminders, policy updates, and information about on-campus COVID-19 cases. These messages are sent to all students, faculty, and staff along with Gustavus parents who have an email address on file with the College.
WEEKLY TIP
Minnesota COVID-19 Update…Data from the CDC indicates that infection levels continue to recede. Most of Minnesota, including Nicollet County, is now in the CDC’s “low” level. The COVID-19 Response Leadership Team is continuing to use this data to help inform our community’s response, and plans to further relax on-campus COVID-19 restrictions in early April if our community and the surrounding area continue to show good numbers.
Spring Break…As students, faculty, and staff prepare for Spring Break, they should review CDC travel guidance and, depending on travel plans, consider attending mass testing in Lund Center tomorrow (Wednesday) from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. No appointment is needed. There will be no on-campus mass testing during spring break.
If you are traveling for spring break, please look at the CDC Community Level map and take appropriate precautions if you are going to a place of high transmission.
Looking Back…Two years ago this week, Gustavus was responding to the initial wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. On March 13, 2020, the College initially announced that it would move to online course delivery for two weeks. By March 17, 2020, the decision to have online classes with most students moving away from campus had been extended through the rest of the academic year. This data set is meant to encompass the on-campus impact of COVID-19 by counting cases where a person may have been on campus while infectious. For example, students who are living at home or employees who are working remotely and not visiting campus will not be counted in these on-campus numbers. This information, along with statistics from the 2020-2021 academic year, is also available for viewing on the College’s COVID-19 Dashboard History page.
