Update to Campus Masking Policy

TO: The Gustavus Community

FROM: COVID-19 Response Leadership Team

SUBJECT: Update to Campus Masking Policy

DATE: September 19, 2021

As the Gustavus campus community continues to transition to on-campus living and primarily in-person classes and activities in the first month of the academic year, the campus masking policy has been updated.

Effective immediately, students do not need to wear masks or facial coverings in campus residence halls. For the time being, masks will continue to be required in all other indoor spaces, including all academic buildings, the Jackson Campus Center and Johnson Student Union, Christ Chapel, and Lund Center.

Additionally, the COVID-19 Response Leadership Team has developed a set of criteria that will guide the College’s masking policy moving forward. The COVID-19 Response Leadership Team and other College leaders will monitor on-campus case numbers, transmission rates in the three counties (Nicollet, Le Sueur, and Blue Earth) near campus, and the number of COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Minnesota. The campus masking policy will be updated based on these criteria. Visit the Gustavus COVID-19 masking webpage to learn more.

The COVID-19 Response Leadership Team believes that these criteria will allow the College to be appropriately responsive to pandemic conditions and adjust our masking policy as necessary. If you have any questions, please visit the COVID-19 website or email g-covidresponse@gustavus.edu.
