SUBJECT: Recording of August 2020 Virtual Forum
DATE: August 28, 2020

Thank you to the over 500 students, parents, and family members who joined us on Monday and Tuesday evenings for virtual forums discussing the College’s updated Fall 2020 Opening Plan.

I appreciate the many questions we received via email and chat—everything from expectations for the online classroom experience to room and board credits to isolation and quarantine protocols to our decision to implement a staged return to campus for students. The varied topics you asked about reflect the complex nature of this ever-changing situation and the need for flexibility as we continue to respond to COVID-19.

If you were not able to participate in the virtual meeting, click here or on the embedded video to watch the recording from Monday evening. As always, I invite you to email g-covidresponse@gustavus.edu with any additional questions.

As we prepare to welcome the Class of 2024 to the Gustavus community and begin the 2020-2021 academic year, it is my hope that each of us will approach the semester with grace, resilience, and a can-do spirit. Our individual actions, the things we do in public as well as when no one is watching, will impact our collective success. I believe that we have the right plan—and more importantly, the right people—to allow for on-campus living and learning this semester.

Now as we begin together, wherever we are, let us show the world how Gusties ROAR (Respect Others, Act Responsibly).

Yours in community,

President Bergman
