TO: The Gustavus Community
FROM: COVID-19 Response Leadership Team
SUBJECT: COVID-19 Weekly Update
DATE: March 8, 2022
Every Tuesday, the Gustavus COVID-19 Response Leadership Team will send out a weekly update that includes tips and reminders, policy updates, and information about on-campus COVID-19 cases. These messages are sent to all students, faculty, and staff along with Gustavus parents who have an email address on file with the College.
WEEKLY TIP
COVID-19 Testing Coverage Updates: COVID-19 levels are decreasing in our nation, which likely will mean insurance companies will change how they are covering appointments and tests. The Gustavus sponsored employee (BCBC) and student (UHCSR) health insurance plans are still covering covid related services at 100% with no patient responsibility. If you have another type of health insurance, check with your plan to determine whether coverage has changed. There is currently a Public Health Emergency declaration from the Department of Health and Human Services that expires on April 15, 2022. It is expected that insurance coverage may change again after that date. Be proactive and learn about your coverage now! As a reminder, at-home rapid tests are available through covidtests.gov and insurance companies are currently required to cover up to eight at-home tests per person per month.
Masking Reminders: Gustavus is currently at Masking Level 1, which means that masks are no longer required in most public spaces on campus. Masks may still be required in classrooms, labs, or other learning spaces by faculty, and may be required in certain offices/departments as indicated by signage. Additional information is available on the COVID-19 FAQs page.
