SUBJECT: COVID-19 Weekly Update

DATE: October 13, 2020
Please see below for the COVID-19 weekly tip and on-campus case update.
Beginning this week, the online COVID-19 dashboard will now be updated twice each week, on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Members of the community will continue to receive this once-weekly email update on Tuesdays and may also check the online dashboard on Fridays or over the weekend to see updated case and isolation/quarantine numbers.
With fall break scheduled for Saturday through Monday, members of the Gustavus community should review the College’s updated travel policy in response to COVID-19.
The introduction to the policy states: “An important element of minimizing infections at Gustavus is limiting travel to and from campus. Gustavus believes that all employees and students should be held to the same level of responsibility for the wellbeing of the whole community. Since College employees leave campus daily to go home, we believe that students should be able to leave campus too. With this freedom comes the responsibility that all members of our community should uphold the Gustavus COVID safety expectations at all times (in the classroom, in their residence hall room, at home, and on the weekends).
With this in mind, students are encouraged to limit unnecessary travel during Fall Break, and take steps to make any visits home as safe as possible. Gustavus students, faculty, and staff should continue to wear facial coverings, maintain six (6) feet of distance between people, and complete the daily self-screening.
As of October 12, 2020
Total Positive Cases (since August 15): 21

Current Positive Student Cases: 2
Current Positive Employee Cases: 2
Total Students in Isolation/Quarantine: 14
Students in Isolation/Quarantine On Campus: 4
Employees in Isolation/Quarantine: 3
This data set is meant to encompass the on-campus impact of COVID-19 by counting cases where a person may have been on campus while infectious. For example, students who are living at home or employees who are working remotely and not visiting campus will not be counted in these on-campus numbers. This information is also available for viewing on the College’s COVID-19 Dashboard.
As always, if you have any questions, please consult the College’s COVID-19 website and email
