SUBJECT: COVID-19 Weekly Update

DATE: April 16, 2021
#1 – COVID-19 case rates have gone up in Minnesota and at Gustavus in previous weeks. Even as vaccination numbers continue to increase, we must continue to wear facial coverings, maintain physical distancing, and refrain from high-risk social gatherings. Despite our collective sense of “COVID fatigue,” we need to continue to take steps necessary to protect our local and broad communities from the spread of COVID-19.
#2 – Nicollet County Public Health is offering a COVID-19 vaccine clinic Wednesday, April 21 from 3–5:45 pm at the St. Peter Health and Human Services Building (622 South Front Street, St. Peter). Members of the Gustavus community may be eligible for the limited number of remaining spots. If you’re interested, please use this registration link: note that a second dose will be required on May 19, which is after the end of the academic year. If you sign up and are approved, please plan to be in Saint Peter for the second dose on May 19.
#3 – Last week, the College hosted its first vaccination clinic and successfully administered shots to 200 Gustavus students based on Minnesota vaccine prioritization guidelines. Our ability to offer on-campus vaccinations is dependent on state, regional, and county supply, and this week the College received no doses of the vaccine. We envision receiving a limited number of doses next week, so please watch your email for a message from the Gustavus Health Service. Members of the Gustavus community are encouraged to fill out the Minnesota Vaccine Connector or schedule vaccine appointments for themselves at local pharmacies (information below). More information is available at the Gustavus Vaccine Resources webpage.

For example, students who are living at home or employees who are working remotely and not visiting campus will not be counted in these on-campus numbers. This information is also available for viewing on the College’s COVID-19 Dashboard.
