SUBJECT: COVID-19 Weekly Update

DATE: October 27, 2020

Please see below for the COVID-19 weekly tip and on-campus case update.

WEEKLY TIP
#1:  The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting increased community spread of COVID-19 throughout the state. Now more than ever, it is important to follow COVID-19 safety measures such as wearing a mask, maintaining six (6) feet of physical distancing, and not gathering in groups. One strategy is for students, faculty, and staff to designate a “pod” of friends/roommates (ideally four people or less) and be extra diligent in wearing a mask and maintaining six (6) feet of distance with anyone outside of that group.
#2: Halloween takes place this Saturday and we will “fall back” an hour as daylight saving time ends that night. Remember to set your clock back, and don’t let a Halloween party be the reason you have to go into quarantine!

COVID-19 DASHBOARD UPDATE
As of October 26, 2020
Total Positive Cases (since August 15): 42

Current Positive Student Cases: 5
Current Positive Employee Cases: 2
Total Students in Isolation/Quarantine: 39
Students in Isolation/Quarantine On Campus: 26
Employees in Isolation/Quarantine: 11

This data set is meant to encompass the on-campus impact of COVID-19 by counting cases where a person may have been on campus while infectious. For example, students who are living at home or employees who are working remotely and not visiting campus will not be counted in these on-campus numbers. This information is also available for viewing on the College’s COVID-19 Dashboard.

As always, if you have any questions, please consult the College’s COVID-19 website and email g-covidresponse@gustavus.edu.
